Making your Home a Haven

June 1, 2009

It’s a beautiful hot sunny day here in our little corner of the world and I’m in major holiday (vacation) recovery. We’ve set aside our school books until tomorrow so that Mama can bring some kind of semblance to our home after our lovely week away.

The last load of laundry is in the machine and I’ve almost unpacked everything; so with all this in mind Tammy’s mini challenges today came as a great incentive to get some jobs off the ‘to do’ list!

Here are her challenges:

1. Set a timer for 15 minutes and work on cleaning or organizing in an area that you dread getting started on. Just 15 minutes! After that you can stop if you want to. 🙂

2. Do something you’ve been procrastinating about.

3. Clean up or organize a pile. A pile of dishes, a pile of laundry, a pile of papers… whatever needs your attention most urgently! 🙂

4. Spend some quality time with your family. Look into their eyes and laugh with them! Do something out of the ordinary for or with at least one of your family members. 🙂

This is how I rose to the challenge:

Clean up or organize a pile. A pile of dishes, a pile of laundry, a pile of papers… whatever needs your attention most urgently!

One of the many piles of laundry that I’ll need to work on today…

All folded and ready to be put away by a couple of little helpers!

Do something you’ve been procrastinating about (it’s been there since Saturday!!); and I set my timer, so that’s kind of two challenges in one…although I had to re-set it after 15 mins as it took a bit longer!!

A hallway full of dumped bags from the car after our family holiday

After lots of emptying, sorting and sweeping sand I have a haven of a hallway for my husband to return to!

I’ve also sat with my children and made ‘thank you’ cards for Grandma for taking us on holiday and we’ve drawn pictures of a holiday memory…now off to make lunch!

Have a wonderful day!

Blessings
Leah

Looks like you did well today. There is always so much to do when you get back from being away. 🙂
