Child in your hand

July 3, 2009

“I praise you because I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139:14

I find these pictures amazing; to see God’s work in motion – the knitting together of a life destined for eternity; truly fearfully and wonderfully made.

My heart aches to consider a life snatched away midst construction; never given the chance to shine, to have breath, to hear, to smell, to see, to feel, to taste – to be:

to live,
to love,
to follow,
to inspire,
to lead.

What drives a person to destroy a masterpiece whilst still in the masters hands?

What inspires a person to crush creation whilst still in formation?

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10

These amazing pictures are a product of a new technology which will allow mums and dads to hold a life size model of their unborn child which is hoping to trigger debate around the issue of abortion once again; see more photos and read more about it here.

“Don’t you see that children are God‘s best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you;
you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.”
Psalm 127:4

I think like you Leah, being married, having had our children and knowing our God, we cannot grasp the concept of destroying a creative life in the making. However, alot of these young girls (and even older girls) who have abortions simply do NOT see things as we see them and they do not know our God. They are 'driven' by deep fear, the unknown, and total lack of love and support often. They are 'inspired' by total fear of rejection from their own families/boyfriends/husbands. They also fear hostility and often total incompetence in their own ability to look after the health, wellfare and upbringing of a small baby. It totally scares them. They fear for the unborn child. For many, as time goes on after their abortion, their hurt only grows bigger and bigger as they mature and come to the realisation of what they have actually done. My prayer and my heart is for us to reach these young girls before their hour of decision…to stop, to help and to let them know about God and his community of people who will help and be there for them and that there IS an escape from their fears.

That is my prayer also Cerys; but also sadly a high percentage of lives lost are from educated adults who find themselves pregnant at the 'wrong time'…I've met a few, and they knew exactly what they were doing!!
