Summer of celebrating!

August 10, 2009

We have three family birthdays in July and August (Micah’s, mine and Joel’s) so we love our summer parties and picnics. We celebrated this year by inviting all our family to a summers day picnic in the park (sorry no piccies, my camera died!!) – it was a beautiful day with beautiful people!

Joel turned 5 on Friday! He asked for a telescope and a microscope for his birthday which we thought was wonderful…and he also asked for a telescope cake; this left me with a challenge but I did it!! Pictures to follow, I did take some but we have camera challenges at the moment 😦

So, he has been doing lots of ‘informal’ science over the past few days, picking up bugs and leaves, squishing them and putting them under his microscope!!

Joel is SO full of life, he’s a bundle of fun and brings bounce into everyone’s day!

He’s an explorer and an discoverer, he can turn any situation into the greatest adventure!

He’s cool and witty and kind, he’s loving and cuddly and a great conversationalist.

He’s creative and spontaneous, he loves learning and is becoming a very good listener!!

He’s our first son, he’s a blessing, he’s a rich reward, he’s a future father and a future husband; he’s our Joel Benjamin.

Happy 5th birthday son – we love you!

Joel is brill – I loved how he puled the chicken leg apart when I came over. A few good things for his microscope – the really thin layer you get in onionsor use nail polish to paint the back of leaves then put sellotape over it, pull the selotape back off and there is a print on the selotape to look at (only works with some leaves)materials esp thin cottonmudenjoySam
