And Advent begins…

November 30, 2010

I’m sat at the table in my dining room with a wiggly 30 week old baby in utero trying to distract me; I’m excitedly doing last minute bits of reading and research to launch our family into this wonderful season of Advent. Our ‘readings’ of choice to accompany our Jesse Tree this year will be from the very generous Ann Voskamps blog ‘Holy Experience’ who has her devotional book available free!

I’ll hopefully be posting pics over the next four weeks as we draw closer to celebrating the birth of our King and Saviour.

On another totally different subject; I do realise that I haven’t shared much about Dave and I’s trip to Zambia this past summer but one place we did visit which really impacted us and the students we took out there was our trip to the ‘Fountain Gate Orphanage’ in Lusaka. Fountain Gate is a pretty new initiative set up by a local Christian organisation to house, educate and nurture some of Lusaka’s vulnerable children. We met some amazingly precious little ones who’s lives had been turned around by the work of the orphanage but more so had been impacted by Jesus Christ.

Some of the students from the Grace Academy schools have beautifully written and recorded a song to raise money for the orphanage; you can download it now from itunes for 79p (search ‘Grace Academy, a gift for everyone’) and all proceeds will go to support the orphanage and their great work.

And also check out the music video which Dave has been involved in directing and editing this week…

Many blessings from our home to yours
Leah

Hi Leah, Great to catch up a bit.Im Always encouraged by your blogs and FB statuses etc and amazed at how much you do. I Thank you for your sharing which has helped me too. Have just downloaded the Jesse Tree to do with the family tonight which we did. Your Blossoming beautifully, and your pregnancy seems to have flown by. I am also expecting again praise the Lord, by His Grace and Mercy. Though Ive not announced it on Facebook and May not. Ive not told my other children yet because Im not ready to tell my parents, but that day is coming. I mustnt live in fear of what my mum will say. She has said quite negative things on the subject of if I was to have anymore children!!But Im about 14.5 weeks so will have to announce it soon. My children will be overjoyed. Well Zambia certainly looked to be an amazing experience, what a blessing to be able to go. And the Grace Academy song is lovely. Is Grace Academy a Christian school where Hubby works?Well im off to bed very tired… God Bless and Thank You Leah. Hope to meet up one day, maybe an Above rubies day like before( the one that you couldnt make it to) in the spring sunshine. XXX

Hi Anna – and first CONGRATULATIONS on your very happy and exciting news; you'll know the timing and peace of God to share with family…but don't keep it quiet too long, it's a time for celebration!! Yes Grace Academy is where my husband works, he's not a teacher but he's on the leadership team and responsible for raising the Christian ethos and values of the school; he's seeing God do a great work in the school! Bless you and your family x x
